We're making a field trip to Kansas City tonight to see the Plug Ins show. Among national artists for this show, local artist TJ Tangpuz has an installation piece that sounds worthy of the trip. TJ has created an environment with his sculptural pieces in an abandoned space between two buildings. I will post pics on Saturday's blog.

Yesterday's Art Openings
Yesterday, we skipped the NEA speaker and panel discussion at the Spencer (we heard it was a fabulous presentation). Instead, we visited an opening reception for seniors in photography at the Kansas Union Gallery, which included many artists. We also visited another opening reception for thesis students at the Art and Design Gallery. This opening included two student works; one part of the gallery was devoted to a series of large gestural oil paintings, and the other side of the gallery displayed a large fiber installation.
